This Sunday Morning…

It may be a bit on the cool side, but what could be more rejuvenating on a sunny winter’s day than strolling, arm in arm, along one of the city’s splendid boardwalks. A well-kept local secret! The lake is calm, the sun strong and the wind almost non-existent. Dogs run, young children play on the rocks and snow crackles underfoot. It’s so peaceful without the summer crowds.

Take the time for a delightfully quiet brunch with someone special, a visit to the seasonally decorated greenhouses of Allan Gardens or maybe a casual drive through a favourite snow-dressed neighbourhood. Fabulous at any age, don’t you think?

And then, back at home to warm up, there’s handmade hot chocolate on the stove, whipped cream and freshly baked peanut butter cookies to share. Or perhaps, it’s a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee by a roaring fireplace with the New York Times and a Hudson’s Bay blanket.

No need to rush at all. It’s Sunday. No matter if there are household chores on the list, errands to run and work still needing to be done later on. It’s the slower pace, the thoughtful gestures and the little extras that set the tone for what will prove to be a wonderful day.

So, now, just for this morning, let’s simply let go and live in the moment.
