Putting on the Ritz

hf_Weekender_1By Kylie McKenzie

Secret rendezvous, spa-cation or celebration…there’s nothing quite like a long weekend at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto.  In our case, good old R & R was at the top of the list, so our first stop had to be the spa. As expected, it was love at first sight as our truly personalized experience began to unfold, courtesy of Spa My Blend by Clarins. I’m hf_Weekender_2delighted to report that I soon felt like I was floating on a cloud with a signature foot warming ritual and aromatherapy exfoliation, followed by a deeply relaxing full-body massage with nourishing hazelnut-infused oil. Ninety minutes of utter bliss.

With luxurious accommodations, a city-view lap pool and oversized aroma-therapy steam rooms, 16 beautifully appointed private treatment rooms and Toronto’s first Champagne Nail Bar. Check into the Spa early and stay late, for dinner at Toca.

Japan always surprises me. In the best way. Two hours from the shiny surface of Tokyo, my plane circles a mountainous green island. It could be the Caribbean but instead, it’s a Unesco World Heritage site that’s part of Japan.
